Just a frickin ray of sunshine

I was nominated by Kim, at I tripped over a Stone, for the Blogger Recognition Award and the sunshine blogger award.  If you haven’t already, you can and should find Kim here.  Kim is a woman that has faced many battles, yet still lives to tell about it.

I don’t normally participate in awards or nominations, so bear with me as I attempt to do my best.  Ok so the rules for the blogger recognition award are as follows:

AWARD RULES:

  • Thank the nominator, and publish a post on your blog about receiving the Blogger Recognition Award. Make sure to provide a link to the nominator’s blog in your post.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Nominate 10-15 other bloggers for this award, and inform them of their nomination.

How my blog got started. If it wasn’t at 12 pm, I would have sworn that alcohol was a contributing factor.  If you would like to read about it, please click the link for my first post.

Two pieces of advice to new bloggers.  This one is so simple.

Step one, don’t listen to me.  and step two….SEE STEP one

Nominate 10- 15 other bloggers for this award.

Not today.

Award Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog so that others can find them.
  • Add the award logo to your blog.
  • List the rules.
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers for the award and ask them 11 new questions.
  • Notify the nominees about it by commenting on one of their blog posts.

To answer Kim’s Questions:

Are you an early bird or a night owl?  This one depends on the day.  I accomplish more when I start early.  I think due to cooler temps and less distractions, but if I have a project I am working on that I wasn’t able to finish, I become a night owl.  OCD?

What is your personal favorite post on your own blog?  I don’t have one.  The one I am most proud of is the first one, because it was the scariest.

What time of day do you dread?  The part of the day that my body says it has physically had enough

Have you been on the vacation of your dreams?  I don’t think so.  I have taken several adventures, but I’m not done seeing and learning new things, so I guess not.

Name your dream car.  One that is paid for!  Alright smart ass answer the question…. I would have to say a Dodge Charger, no specific year, or color.

If I see a penny on the ground would I pick it up?  Nope!  Well unless it was on the floor I just finished washing or something like that.

If I could pick a book title to describe your life over the last 10 years what would it be?  Msgraceful…. NOT!

What song title best describes my life over the last 10 years?  Emotional Girl by Terri Clark.

Ever thought of going Vegan?... LOL

I have to know, do you have a landline?  Nope!  In fact I removed all of the old phone lines from my walls when I remodeled last year.

I really am no good at following directions, and I don’t want to put anyone on the spot so I am not going to nominate anyone.  I am, however, going to post several questions and hope that you will take a minute to answer in the comments below.

  1.  How old are you?
  2. Do you remember how you found Msgracefulnot.com?  For the people I paid to follow me please skip this question.
  3. Why do you live where you live?  I mean country life or city life.  The state or country that you live in.  Do you have any plans to change that?
  4. Do you have any “dealbreakers”  or instant turn offs when meeting new people or friends?  Age, race, sexual preference, political affiliation etc, hold no weight on whether I will talk to someone or not, but I instantly either Challenge someone who is mean or “showboaty” or I instantly walk in the other direction.  I have no time or energy for know it alls or people that think they are better than someone else.
  5. Which word or phrase do you say the most on any given day?  For me, it is probably a tie between “Thank you” and “I’m sorry”
  6. Are there any words you refuse to say?  I do not have a place in my life for the words Hate or Cunt.
  7. Do you have a favorite pet or animal?  Do you have the pleasure of owning one? Why or why not?
  8. Do you have any addictions or compulsions?  If you are like me and have many, please choose just one to share.
  9. Give a man a fish, or teach him to fish?
  10. How do you take your coffee?

  1. congratulations on your award Grace, it was so fun to read your responses and get to know you better! Since I am also not very good at following directions I will answer some of the above questions:
    2. I found you by reading a super funny comment you left on someone’s blog and had to “get to know you better!”
    4. Deal breaker – people who suck
    5. I say “I am sorry” all the time, drives people crazy.
    7. We have a dog, 2 cats and 4 chickens……..I love them all.
Thanks for letting me share Grace!

    1. Thank you for taking the time to answer Wendi. I am very glad to have met you. If you don’t mind I may ask some chicken questions in the future. Einstein and I are looking at a small farm that has some chickens and I would rather learn to care for them than to sell them if we do move forward

      1. oh how wonderful! We started out with 8 and we had a couple of intruders…….broke my heart. Two died from a mystery illness despite our best efforts. One is disabled and has to live apart from the others or they will kill her, so my husband had to build her her own home and she gets free range of the entire backyard. 🙂 it’s been a huge life lesson for all of us.

  3. Dear Grace, To answer your questions (I may ‘over-answer’ by disclosing too much info, but here goes: 1. I am 60 and my birthday is February 25. 2. A friend of mine was also nominated for the “fricken” Sunshine Blogger Award. 3. I live in a city called San Marino, California. This is near Pasadena, California. I live here because the home I recently received by Trust was given to me by my former Roommate/Partner of over 20 years. I have no plans, as of now, to change that. 4. I think the #1 “dealbreaker” or instant ‘turn off’ would be seeing how that person is being bossy, controlling, or manipulating. I can usually detect this immediately, if not very quickly. 5. “What phrase do I say most on any given day?” “I’m coming!” Spoken to my little dog, Dorothy. 6. “Are there any words you refuse to say?” Many! But my #1 words are Ought and Should. 7. Yes, I own a six year old (not housebroken) Shih Tzu named ‘Dorothy’. I was totally unprepared for the care, maintenance, and upkeep of everything concerning her, my home, and property. I have never owned my own dog before. A major challenge for me! 8. Teach him to become a “fisher of men” so as to teach ‘them’ to TRULY FEED others! 9. I take my coffee with either milk, cream, sugar or Sweet and Low. Such an odd question! Please, know that not everyone seeks these “Awards” either! My personal blog (just mentioning) has only 3 “followers”. We “surrender” the outcome of our successes in Life to that “something” or “someone” that is beyond our control. It isn’t about Luck; its about GROWING, LEARNING, and MATURING. Blessings to you. You have blessed me today. Timothy

    1. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions! I love getting to know people! By trust I assume that means you have lost your partner? I am sorry to hear that. I hope you have many fond memories to hold onto. I do not believe in the saying that you can not teach an old dog new tricks, good luck with the housetraining. It may take a little bit longer, but I am sure it is possible. Dogs are incredibly intelligent and usually go out of their way to please their owners…… The coffee question is because I frequently joke that I can not be friends with anyone that doesn’t consume a large amount of coffee considering I think I need it more than oxygen. I really love your take on Truly Feeding others. Thank you for sharing your time with me today! I do feel blessed that you stopped by

      1. I will consider returning to read of your blog. Your approach is down-to-earth, honest, and innovative. The occasional curse or foul language of modern slang has been so overused as to almost become commonplace, if not useless and redundant for most people. We are human after all. And I bet even Jesus had a ‘good go’ at cursing out those scribes and Pharisees! On another subject, my dog is obedient. She even tries to “talk” to me sometimes! I give her a little taste of my coffee every morning. Merry begins after Coffee. Truly Feeding others is Love in action. Timothy

  4. 1. How old are you? 50 years and 348 days.

    2. Do you remember how you found Msgracefulnot.com? I do not. Through Damn Girl, maybe?

    3. Why do you live where you live? I answered this in the latest tombeingtom.com post. See it now!

    4. Do you have any “dealbreakers” or instant turn offs when meeting new people or friends? No sense of humor or an overzealous love of Donald Trump.

    5. Which word or phrase do you say the most on any given day? “I see. I understand. I see.”

    6. Are there any words you refuse to say? Worcestershire.

    7. Do you have a favorite pet or animal? Do you have the pleasure of owning one? Also covered extensively on TBT! https://tombeingtom.com/2019/05/04/all-about-dogs/

    8. Do you have any addictions or compulsions? Hello,my name is Tom and I am a compulsive beer drinker.

    9. Give a man a fish, or teach him to fish? I physically and psychologically hate fishing. My brothers asked me to go fishing with them once and I said “I don’t like it any more than the fish do.” 🙂 But, really, to answer the question, give the man a fish. The least we can do is give a man a fish.

    10. How do you take your coffee? One cream, one sugar. I drink three cups (sometimes four) every morning exactly like that.

    1. I love that you know how old you are to the day, not only does it attest to your humor, but also that you really know that each day is a gift. Worcestershire made me laugh because I can’t pronounce it along with aluminum…but it is somewhat funny to see me try. Superman and I have talked about how nice it would be to meet and have a drink with you someday.. whether it be coffee or coors light…i look forward to the day if it ever happens

  5. Hahah I love your response to nominating, “not today”! 😆 I need to do the Disability award post soon so I might use that response in mine if you don’t mind me pinching it? Your response to going vegan too.. 😂
Yeah I wouldn’t pick up a dirty penny of a dirty floor either though. A hundred dollar/pound note? Absolutely!
Damn, I would never have followed you if I’d have known you would have paid me to do it! Heheh.

Your Q9 is a really good one! I’d go for teach a man to fish as it’s more beneficial in the long run, but if he were really desperate and hungry I’d give him a fish. Actually, why I don’t I just catch a fish while he watches and give it to him? Problem solved. Then I’d point him in the direction of the nearest supermarket.

I also hate the ‘c’ word. Christmas. It’s a bad word!

I take my coffee non-existent. I’m a tea girl. I wish I liked coffee as I love the smell, and a frothy cappuccino with chocolate sprinkles looks divine. But it always tastes like crap.

Thanks for the giggles with this post, I loved it! Congrats again 🙂

    1. Pinch away! ( the answer, not me please) I take so much useful information from your blog to apply to my life Caz, I’m happy to give you something in return. I could not have given a better response to the fishing question than you did. I feel exactly the same way!
